In 2004, work began to build OpenMRS at the AMPATH program Western Kenya. The system would later be switched on in the year 2006 as OpenMRS evolved from a solution at a single clinic to a worldwide collaboration. As we grew, we found that the best ideas come from people with different backgrounds and talents, so we worked together to build a global community where these people can come together and innovate, building Health IT systems for the people who need it most. Since then, we’ve grown to have a presence on every corner of the planet. We’re looking forward to the next nine years, and hope you’ll continue to join us in our efforts.
